WESTS TIGERS

PROJECTED STARTING 17, ROUND 1 2022

FULLBACK: DAINE LAURIE $523K 42BE (2021 AVG 38.8, 41.7 IN 70+ MIN FULLBACK)

LEFT WING: KEN MAUMALO $410 33BE (2021 AVG 32.6, CAREER WING AVG 30.8)

LEFT CENTRE: OLIVER GILDART $400K 32BE (NO NRL STATS)

Fantasy Outlook (M): The history of English outside backs coming to Australia is littered with failure, and the Tigers are typically not a recipe for success for players. The Tigers are more than likely headed for another bottom 8 season, meaning attacking stats could be limited. Across 2018-20, an average bottom 8 centre with no goal kicking scores about 31.5 points, so if we can get Gildart at a sub $300k price point he will be worth an emergency spot, if they price him at $350k or so he could be worth a shot, particularly with the soft early schedule.

RIGHT CENTRE: JAMES ROBERTS ???

Fantasy Outlook (M): No thank you.

RIGHT WING: DAVID NOFOALUMA $455K 37BE (2021 AVG 37.6, 2019/20 AVG 49.6)

Fantasy Outlook (M): Not one for the cowards, but David Nofoaluma looks to be a top knotch POD option and with a soft starting schedule and a new look right edge, Nofoaluma could go on an absolute tear to start the year and make some serious cash while also scoring well. Nofoaluma dropped his averages by 43 run metres, 2 tackle busts and 33% try scoring from 2019/20 to 2021, so if he can get back to his attacking best he will be a great POD.

RIGHT HALF: LUKE BROOKS $590K 47BE (2021 AVG 51.4, NO OBVIOUS CHANGES)

LEFT HALF: JACKSON HASTINGS $450K 36BE (2016 HLF AVG 45.3, NO RECENT NRL)

Fantasy Outlook (R): The 2019 Man of Steel returns from his UK holiday to try his 2nd stint in the NRL. One of the best cash cows of 2016 when he filled in for a suspended Mitchell Pearce, Hastings career was halted shortly there after as he was relegated to bench and reserve grade duties in 2017/18. Whether he’s a buy or not will really depend on how fanhub price him. If he is priced based on those 2017/18 seasons simiarly to Albert Kelly last year then he’ll be basement price cash cow and one likely to be in plenty of teams to start round 1. I’d expect to see a pretty even split in the kick metres between Hastings and Brooks which would give Hastings 10+ points of value in base stats alone at a sub 250k price point.

LEFT BACK ROW: KELMA TUILAGI $310K 25BE (NO DATA – PASSES THE EYE TEST!)

RIGHT BACK ROW: LUCIANO LEILUA $659K 53BE (2021 AVG 52.3, NO OBVIOUS CHANGES)

LOCK: ALEX TWAL $683K 55BE (2021 AVG 52, NO OBVIOUS CHANGES)

PROP: STEFANO UTOIKAMANU $557K 45BE (2021 AVG 43.4, 40MIN+ AVE 48.7)

Fantasy Outlook (R): A strong cash cow in the early rounds of 2021, Stefano showed a lot more for us to like in the back half of the season. Once he took over a starting role in round 18, Utoikamanu averaged 55.8 in 56mins and played 55+mins on 6/8 appearances. With a strong ppm and year of experience, he appears to be a prime candidate as a cut price keeper if he can hold this big minute role into 2022.
