SYDNEY ROOSTERS

PROJECTED STARTING 17, ROUND 1 2022

FULLBACK: JAMES TEDESCO $695K 56BE (2021 AVG 58, 60.5 WHEN PLAYING 70+ MINS)

Fantasy Outlook (M): Planting my flag on this one, Tedesco is the way to go this year. With the return of Luke Keary, the Roosters will be competing with the Panthers for premiership favourites. If Brandon Smith ends up at the Roosters a year early that only increases, but even without it, the Roosters look LETHAL. Across the first 10 weeks, they only face one side projected for the top 4, but 3 sides projected for the bottom 4 plus the Bulldogs, Broncos and Pearceless Knights. We have seen Tedesco averages 75+ against bottom 4 sides, meaning you have three great captaincy choices in the first 7 rounds while you wait for Cleary to be fit. I am projecting Tedesco to average up around 65 points for the first 10 weeks, making him a great value option you can then either hold through Origin period or upgrade and get back for the run home.

LEFT WING: DANIEL TUPOU (2021 AVG 36.6, NO OBVIOUS CHANGES)

LEFT CENTRE: ADAM KEIGHRAN $361K 29BE (CTR AVG 29 WITHOUT GK – UPSIDE!)

RIGHT CENTRE: JOSEPH MANU $590K 47BE (2021 AVG 48, 41.5 AT CENTRE IN 2021)

RIGHT WING: PAUL MOMIROVSKI $488K 37BE

LEFT HALF: LUKE KEARY $650K 60BE (2021 AVG 63.3, CAREER 48 AVG 200+ KM)

Fantasy Outlook (M): The division of labour between Walker and Keary is probably one of the most interesting and unpredictable storylines for 2022, with Keary going down in 2021 to an ACL injury after a blistering 3 weeks averaging well into the 60s despite not scoring a try – although he did get 7 try assists in 3 weeks. Realistically, what Keary offers fantasy managers is a pretty safe 50 point average, with the potential that he continues his breakout against this soft Roosters schedule. Keary fits very much into the “Jahrome Hughes” mould of halves, and could very well be a top 5 halves option this year. In the end, the decision will depend on how much of a discount he gets on his 63.3 average. Anything below 50 will likely see me buy.

RIGHT HALF: SAM WALKER (2021 AVG 39.4, 42.1 WHEN PLAYING 70+ MINS)

LEFT BACK ROW: ANGUS CRICHTON $757K 61BE (2021 AVG 59.9, NO OBVIOUS CHANGE)

RIGHT BACK ROW: SITILI TUPOUNIUA (2021 AVG 42.1, 46.5 WHEN PLAYING 50+ MIN)

LOCK: VICTOR RADLEY (2021 AVG 42.9, 46.8 WHEN PLAYING 50+ MINS)

Fantasy Outlook (R): Radley had a pretty good 2021 when he was actually on the field. Footy wise I don’t think there’s much doubt to how important he for the Roosters in attack but the constant brain explosions have him in the Pangai/Latrell class where nearly any indiscretion will see him gone for a month. It’s a lot easier to stomach that kind of risk when you have the high ceilings of a Latrell or Pangai but Radley has only ever gone over 70 once and that required 80mins and a try. If the Roosters are firing and Radley can get back to his 2020 pre-acl injury form then he looks a possible high risk/high reward option but he’s not one for those with a low risk tolerance.

PROP: LINDSAY COLLINS $641K 51BE (2021 AVG 50.5, NO OBVIOUS CHANGE)

PROP: JARED WAEREA-HARGREAVES (2021 AVG 39.6, 45.1 AT PROP IN 2021)

DREW HUTCHINSON

PAUL MOMIROVSKI (2021 AVG 38.1, 40.3 WHEN PLAYING 70+ MINS)

BILLY SMITH

Fantasy Outlook (R): Billy has gotta be one of the most unluckiest players in the game right now. On multiple occasions just as his career was heating up he’s been struck down by injury. Priced at only 27, if he can get a full pre-season under his belt with no injury concerns, then he comes into consideration as a cash cow in a team that can pile on the points.
