SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

FULLBACK

LATRELL MITCHELL

WFB $777K (53 BE)

Fantasy gun, but too expensive to start with in 2023.

PROJECTION: 53-56 PPG

WINGER

IZAAC THOMPSON

CTR/(WFB?) $319K (22 BE)

Thompson looks set to snipe the wing job from Milne, and looks set to be a strong option for Fantasy managers, particularly given his availability through the first 13 rounds, assuming of course he holds Milne out of the position in a tough early run.

PROJECTION: 31-36 PPG

CENTRE

CAMPBELL GRAHAM

CTR $623K (43 BE)

Fantasy gun, but too expensive to start with in 2023. Come back later in the year to see how he is performing.

PROJECTION: 42-45 PPG

CENTRE

ISAIAH TASS

CTR $531K (36 BE)

Has his time in 2022, now becomes irrelevant as he has a very limited amount of potential price rises left.

PROJECTION: 35-39 PPG

WINGER

ALEX JOHNSON

WFB $591K (40 BE)

Great player, not great fantasy option as a try dependent winger, albeit with a great try scoring record.

PROJECTION: 35-40 PPG

FIVE-EIGHTH

CODY WALKER

HLF $601K (41 BE)

Great player, not great fantasy option thanks to the combination of demerits and low base stats with high attacking reliance.

PROJECTION: 38-43 PPG

HALFBACK

LACHLAN ILIAS

HLF $429K (29 BE)

Has his time in 2022, now becomes irrelevant even with a little value obvious in the projections as he is sharing too many stats with Mitchell and Walker.

PROJECTION: 33-36 PPG

PROP

TOM BURGESS

MID $545K (37 BE)

Burgess is now 30 and starting to slow a little bit, but he will still be a valuable contributor to the Rabbitohs.

PROJECTION: 35-40 PPG

PROP

TEVITA TATOLA

MID $628K (43 BE)

Maybe a small bit of value, but probably not enough to tempt us. Nonetheless, we looked further into Tatola for those looking for a player in this price range with keeper upside.

PROJECTION: 45-50 PPG

LOCK

CAM MURRAY

MID $904K (62 BE)

With an injury affected 1 point score dampening an otherwise elite 2022 season, Cam Murray represents an interesting value option on the elite end for Fantasy managers early in the season.

PROJECTION: 64-69 PPG

EDGE

KEAON KOLOMATAGI

EDG $722K (50 BE)

Fantasy gun, but too expensive to start with in 2023 after a huge year in 2022.

PROJECTION: 49-54 PPG

EDGE

JAI ARROW

MID/EDG $672K (46 BE)

Great player, not great fantasy option as he is better suited to playing in the middle, but that role is already taken.

PROJECTION: 45-49 PPG

HOOKER

DAMIEN COOK

HOK $945K (65 BE)

Fantasy gun, but too expensive to start with in 2023.

PROJECTION: 56-61 PPG

THE BENCH

PROP

DANIEL SULUKA-FIFITA

MID $250K (17 BE)

A sniff of value here, but probably not enough to warrant selection. Slow burner

PROJECTION: 23-28 PPG

PROP

HAME SELE

MID $336K (23 BE)

There could be some minutes on offer for Sele depending on how the rotation shakes out. There is also Suluka-Fifita and Moale competing for this spot.

PROJECTION: 20-25 PPG

BENCH FORWARD

JACOB HOST

EDG $348K (24 BE)

Maybe a small bit of value, but not enough to tempt us. Likely plays 50-60 mins on the edge pushing Arrow to the middle.

PROJECTION: 28-33 PPG

UTILITY

BLAKE TAAFFE

WFB $305K (21 BE)

Once again, bench utility is not what we are looking for in fantasy.

  1. I am a diehard Souths member and fan. JD is really big on Izaak. If he wasn’t injured at the back end of last year he would’ve played in round 25 and the finals. JD has put lots of time into him. He scored 20 tries in 16 games in NSW Cup last year with an avg of 45. Also I believe Liam Knight is out injured to start the year. You will find Jacob Host comes onto the bench he makes our best 17. What JD will do is bring Host on and that allows us to push Jai Arrow to middle. Host could get around 45mins some games I think coming on around 25mins in.
