Apologies for the brevity of this weeks article. Visiting family in Christchurch. Normal programming will resume next week.
Buys
Eli Katoa EDG $687’000 Projected Average: 54 BE: 62
An 80 minute attacking edge playing for the best attacking team in the comp with no byes left for the entire season seems like an easy decision. Again this probably a team specific buy depending on your needs but he’s a very good option. Outside of a strange game against the Dolphins in round 7, he’s average 56 this year and is perhaps flying a bit under the radar. With Hosking under performing and Wong injured he looks an excellent pivot.
Jed Stuart WFB $240’000 Projected Average: 28 BE: 17
Who doesn’t love a nepo baby? Don’t expect miracles from Jed he’s purely a cash out option and a textbook winger that’ll see teen scores on weeks he doesn’t score a try. Ideally he should only see your scoring side in round 18 and otherwise be nestled safely in your 21 spot most weeks.
Jacob Kiraz CTR/WFB $722’000 Projected Average 54 BE: 69
With everyone in need of a WFB this week then Kiraz seems like the best of the keeper options. No byes left for the rest of the season is a big plus and the only concern the outside chance of an Origin call up if Lomax or To’o were to get injured.
Holds
Jayden Campbell WFB/HLF $677’000 Projected Average: 59 BE: 89
With trades dwindling, Campbell seems like one worth holding for me. He’ll miss the next two weeks but with no byes for the run home from round 19 onwards, he still seems like the top WFB option. The break even is high but the cash loss doesn’t matter if you never sell. If you’ve been squirreling away trades for the winter then I could maybe justify it but if you’re into the single digits he’s a hold
Jaxon Purdue CTR $488’000 Projected Average: 42 BE: 58
If you’ve already got two other round 18 centres then I can understand selling but we’re close enough now to hold otherwise. He was scoring well in the centres and up against the Titans should be a favourable matchup.
Sells
Hamish Stewart MID $504’000 Projected Average: 53 BE: 49
Shane Flanagan has messed with the rotation again it makes Hamish a fairly urgent sell. It could change on a dime with JDB departing at seasons end but his price rises have been ruined and if he isn’t getting the minutes then losing the cash made isn’t worth holding for a sub par round 18 score.
Fletcher Sharpe WFB/HLF $712’000 BE: 65
A long term injury makes Sharpe an easy trade candidate this week. A shame for it to end this way but he’s done his duty.
Siua Wong EDG $628’000 BE: 66
Another unfortunate injury sell. He’s not a keeper regardless so probably had to he sold at some point.
Spicy Buys
Jayden Brailey HOK $375’000 Pojected average: 52 (if he holds the 9 jersey) BE: 4
With Crossland shifting the 13 jersey and it proving somewhat successful after two games, the door opens for Brailey to retake a big minute role at hooker. Obviously a risky option given it could change at any time and round 19 TLT will be a sweat when the Knights have middles returning.
Latu Fainu HLF $298’000 Projected Average: 34 (if able to hold the 7 jersey) BE: 10
Fair amount of risk here but he’s cheap and looks a nailed on green dot whether it be 7 or 14. Should be gaurunteed at least the next 3 to 4 games until Bula returns and then it’s up in there. He’s also had his own share of injury issues which should be considered.
