Buys
Nathan Lawson CTR $249’000 Projected Average: 28 BE: 4
Probably the cash out of the week for round 14 is Nathan Lawson. A Dragons winger is nothing to write home about but he’s cheap and should have a job for at least the next few weeks and importantly in round 15 and 18 with Holmes in Origin camp. Handy bye cover and a good way to free up cash for other upgrades.
James Fisher-Harris MID $567’000 Projected Average: 54 BE: 45
The loss of Mitch Barnett for the year means others in this Warriors forward pack will need to step up. Fisher-Harris has been great this year with only one game below 50 (outside of the game he got injured) and has been very consistent. At this price he looks a great option for an 18th man for the run home with coaches likely missing players every week with a new bye to contend with each round.
Matt Burton HLF $549’000 Projected Average: 53 BE: 45
Probably the cheapest he’s going to get and with the goal kicking back he looks a great value option for the run home. Only one bye left in round 16 is a big plus for overall and h2h coaches alike and being the dominant goal kicking half for a top team in the league is always positive. The wild card is how does the addition of Galvin impact him but given that Galvin is another low kick metre running half I think it could be positive if he replaces Sexton.
Holds
Zac Hosking EDG $583’000 Projected Average: 53 BE: 49
It’s not been a dream start since buying Zac Hosking but I still think he’s worth holding for one more week at least. A game in the driving rain against a tough Warriors outfit followed by a game that really didn’t suit the Raiders for their fantasy output. Only Tamale was able to score over 45 without a try in that game and with the schedule easing up with Souths, Tigers, Knights and Dragons to come, plus a well established high ceiling for Hosking earns him another week.
Sells
Corey Horsburgh MID $648’000 BE: 66
Certainly not urgent but Horsburgh looks like one you can move on at your leisure. An increasingly likely chance for a Maroon call up following game 1 as well as dipping minutes leaves Horse as likely not a final team keeper. He started the season with 5 straight 50+ minute games and has only cleared that 50 minute mark in 3 of his 7 games since. This means he’s likely a high 40s guy which is playing out with 3 of his last 4 scores sub 45. He’s still a safe 40 and a reliable top 17 scorer if you have other pressing issues however.
Kiti Kautoga EDG/CTR $542’000 BE: 43
If you’ve held this long it might be time to take the cash and run. He kicked on well post the Eels round 8 bye but with a spate of other top line EDG/CTR options and two impending byes in round 15 & 18 leaves Kiti as a good upgrade option.
Spicy Buys
Jack Williams MID/EDG $609’000 Pojected average: 47 BE: 18
We’ve kept the projection conservative because it’s hard to trust a Jason Ryles rotation but this is definitely one we’re looking at in 5 weeks time wondering how he got over 700k. Not one we’re recommending, preferring a straight bat play however if you’re looking for a POD or something off the beaten path this one you could take a punt on in your h2h leagues.
